Local developers J Square Developers and Backstreets Capital have announced plans for Strum Place, a mixed-use townhome project located at Central Avenue and 64th Street in west St. Petersburg. The development is named after the Strum family, early settlers of the area who built the existing two-story house on the site in 1924. The developers purchased the 0.84-acre site in December 2022 for $1.45 million.
Project Highlights
- Residential Units: Nine three-story townhomes, each featuring three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and a two-car garage. The homes will be 2,040 square feet, with pricing starting in the $700,000s.
- Interior Features: Each townhome will include a spacious great room on the second floor, a large kitchen with stainless steel KitchenAid appliances, a separate pantry, and an open living and dining area with collapsible sliding doors leading to a private balcony.
- Outdoor Amenities: Three of the townhomes will offer private fenced yards, catering to families with pets. Additionally, four mature oak trees along 64th Street will be preserved to enhance privacy and maintain the neighborhood’s tree canopy.
- Historic Preservation: The adjacent 4,800-square-foot Strum House will be preserved and refurbished for use as office space, maintaining its original character while improving ADA accessibility.
- Location Benefits: Situated near two SunRunner bus rapid transit stations, Strum Place offers convenient access to downtown St. Petersburg and the Gulf beaches.
