St. Petersburg’s Development Review Commission (DRC) has unanimously approved an innovative mixed-use development that will preserve and restore a historic 1937 Cade Allen home while adding luxury residences to the Mirror Lake district. Local developer Backstreets Capital’s plan thoughtfully combines preservation with new construction at 250 Mirror Lake Drive North.
The approved development includes three distinct components: restoration of the original 4,000-square-foot Cade Allen home, construction of a new two-story residence inspired by Allen’s architectural style, and development of “The Cade” – an 18-unit luxury condominium building.
"This project shows it is possible to develop new and exciting projects in historic neighborhoods... and create something new while not just honoring the past with a mural or marker, but incorporating the past to create a compelling new development."
