The Cade Residences at Mirror Lake Break Ground

Strong Early Sales Leads to Groundbreaking

PETERSBURG, FL (APRIL 27, 2026) — Backstreets Capital announces that The Cade, a seven-story collection of just 15 curated residences anchored on Mirror Lake, has officially secured its building permits and commenced construction. The project has seen strong early sales demand, with 40% of residences already under contract.

Introduced earlier this year, The Cade continues to generate interest among buyers seeking a more private, design-forward alternative to traditional condominium living in downtown St. Petersburg. The Cade offers homeowners the ability to live in a boutique building, with views of the Lake, the downtown skyline, and Tampa Bay from their living spaces. The project’s dedicated sales gallery (located at 600 1st Avenue North) is now open as contracts continue to be secured.

Anchored on Mirror Lake, The Cade fosters a sense of calm.  The building is designed with a distinctly residential sensibility to offer an intimate living experience rarely found in downtown St. Petersburg – but also just steps away from the energy of the city. With only 15 expansive three- and four-bedroom residences, each exceeding 2,100 square feet, the building prioritizes space, privacy, and livability over density. Homes are thoughtfully curated and highly designed, allowing for personalization which appeals to buyers seeking a sophisticated alternative to high-rise condominium living.

“The response to The Cade has validated what we set out to create,” said Will Conroy, President of Backstreets Capital. “With construction now underway and nearly half the residences already spoken for, it’s clear there is strong demand for a more refined, residential experience in our downtown. The Cade is perfect for people who want the privacy, space, and character of a custom home, paired with an irreplaceable lakefront location.”

The Cade’s design draws inspiration from its historic neighbor, the Cade Allen House at 250 Mirror Lake, which is currently being restored by Backstreets Capital. Original stone salvaged from the landmark home will be incorporated into the new building’s lobby entrance, creating a permanent connection between past and present.

Amenities at The Cade are designed to support a private, residential lifestyle. These include private owner-assigned storage (one on the residential floor and one within the secured garage), a fitness center, resident lounge with warming kitchen, beverage station and a gas fireplace, an exterior amenity deck with pool and covered seating, and prewired parking spaces for EV charging.
